West Ham - the leader in
transfer rumours
West Ham is the most often
mentioned football club in the U.K. at the transfer talks this
week.
The manager of West-Ham, Alan Curbishley, is
leading the efforts to sign the Charlton striker Darren Bent - a
second attempt by the Hammers. According to rumours, the
23-year-old English national has been offered a 5-year deal with
a weekly salary of £75,000. Tottenham was another club
interested in Bent, but the Upton Park club believes they have
Darren in their hands, offering Charlton the midfielder Hayden
Mullins as a part of the deal. Darren Bent is currently on
vacation, but it has been reported that he will undergo a
medical and sign with West Ham as soon as he comes back.
Financing of the Bent deal could come from
Liverpool. The chief executive Rick Parry confirmed today that
they have made an official approach for signing West Ham
midfielder Yossi Benayoun. The Israeli footballer has verbally
agreed to a new 5-year deal with West Ham, but has put off the
signing of it. Some put the deal offered to Yossi as high as £3
million, but Parry denied the number and declined to comment
further on the financial side of the offer. West Ham are
believed to have rejected the deal and are working to convince
Benayoun to stay at Upton Park for £50,000 a week.
Carlos Tevez is another West Ham football
player mentioned in the transfer talks. Inter Milan long have
eyed the Argentinean footballer and Massimo Moratti confirmed
that they are indeed interested in having Tevez play at San Siro.
No further details on this possible transfer have been released.
