Rafael Nadal
ousted by Mahut at the Queen's Club
The number 2 in the world
Rafael Nadal is out of the Stella Artois Championships thanks to
Nicolas Mahut.
The 106th in the world Nicolas Mahut won over Nadal 7-5, 7-6
(7-0) effectively punching the ticket for the Spaniard in a
surprising twist at the Queen's Club grass-court championships
Friday in London. Mahut has played in 17 tournaments but has
gone beyond second round only two times before. Rafael Nadal
held strong odds against Mahut before the match, but the Queen's
Club spell was not broken for him. Nadal exited the tournament
last year at the same stage with a shoulder injury during his
quarter-final against Lleyton Hewitt in 2006.
At the other court, the American Andy Roddick
advanced to the semi-finals by defeating Marin Cilic 6-4, 7-6
(7-5).
