Angel Cabrera is
the winner of the 2007 US Open
Who won the 2007 US Open? -
Angel Cabrera from Argentina is the 107th winner if the U.S.
Open Championship.
In
a very competitive final day at the 107th US Open, Angel Cabrera
snatched the title at the Oakmont Country Club. The golfers kept
the viewers on the edge of their seats until the last minutes of
the Championship.
Angel Cabrera made a comeback today after
trailing 6-over par, held the top position on the leaderboard in
the late afternoon with five over par. Jim Furyk finished six
over par tying the second place with Tiger Woods. And after that
- all eyes were on Woods.
He was the one bringing the drama at the
end of the 2007 US Open. Having 6-over par at the 17th he had a
chance to tie with Cabrera, after ending in the bunker, but his
shot was not good enough to give him a birdie and he finished
the 17th par.
The 18th hole was Tiger Woods' last
chance to take the US Open to playoffs. But his first shot went
on the rough, while Cabrera was smiling back at the clubhouse,
tasting the victory. Tiger Woods, however, prolonged the
suspense, after a great second shot to take the ball out of the
rough and place it about 20 feet from the target. A miss on his
third shot and Tiger Woods finished par at the 18th, sending the
US Open title to Argentina.
