Tank Johnson let
go by the Chicago Bears after arrest
After his latest arrest on
impaired driving and probation violation, the Chicago Bears
finally got fed up with Tank Johnson and released the NFL
player.
According
to police reports, the Bears defensive tackle Tank Johnson was
caught doing 40mp/h in a 25mp/h zone on Friday. Johnson was also
"being impaired to the slightest degree". Police said
Johnson was cooperative, and he was released pending analysis of
the blood sample. He was not booked or charged, and no citations
were issued. DUI charges may be pressed depending on lab
results.
This incident happened just a month
after Tank Johnson was released for good behavior from jail
doing 120 days behind bars, after police found six unregistered
firearms during a raid on his home in December, while he was on
probation for a 2005 weapons offense. Johnson was suspended for
as many as eight games by National Football League for the
probation violation, but his punishment was later reduced to
only six games.
Tank Johnson flew to Chicago from his
home in Arizona and Bear coach Lovie Smith gave him the news of
the release in a face-to-face meeting Monday, according to
reports. A press release by the Chicago Bears read We are upset
and embarrassed by Tank's actions last week. He compromised the
credibility of our organization."
