Hamlin wins the Lenox Industrial Tools 300
Denny Hamlin, in the No. 11
Chevrolet, won his first victory in the NASCAR season,
outrunning Jeff Gordon for the checker flag.
Hamlin
started 11th at the New Hampshire International Speedway and by
taking a risk and changing only two of his tires at the last pit
stop was able to win the Lenox Industrial Tools 300. This is
third victory in Denny Hamlin's Nextel Cup career. Although
first victory for Hamlin this season, he is second in the NASCAR
premier series driver standings, 156 points behind Jeff Gordon,
with nine races remaining before The Chase.
Jeff Gordon finished second, beaten by
Hamlin by less than a car-length.
Martin Truex was third at New Hampshire
on Sunday, followed by Dale Earnhardt Jr. in fourth and Jimmie
Johnson in fifth. Jeff Green came in sixth, while Jeff Burton
was seventh.
