AT&T National -
Tiger's Tournament day one
Day one of the Tiger
Woods hosted AT&T National, Joe Ogilvie is tied for first with
Jim Furyk.
After Tiger Woods opened the pro-am on
the 4th of July with the military and the former President
George H. W. Bush, on Thursday the chase for the AT&T National
Tour trophy was on.
Joe Ogilvie is atop the leaderboard at the AT&T National
PGA Tour, after Round One on Thursday. Ogilvie is tied with K.J.
Choi, Jim Furyk, Stuart Appleby and Vijay Singh, all of them
with four under par 66. The host of the AT&T National, Tiger
Woods, is tied at 79th with 3-over, but the champ has nothing to
worry about, just yet.
Phil Mickelson, who started on the back
nine, tied for 94th with 4-over-par 74. But Mickelson declined
to blame it on his injured wrist, and justified the Day 1 with
"I was a little rusty. Last week I thought I was playing
pretty well. Today I thought I hit a reasonable number of good
shots but I scored terrible." Mickelson injured his wrist at
the Oakmont last month, and was forced to withdraw from the
Memorial Tournament in Dublin, Ohio, because of the injury.
Quick look at the oddsmakers, and Jim
Furyk has been upgraded as the favorite by the U.K. online
bookmaker
Bet365, followed by Vijay Singh
and Tiger Woods. The North American bookie
Bodog Sports still has Tiger
Woods at 3/1 to win the AT&T National PGA Tour, compared with
Jim Furyk with odds 11/1.
AT&T National will resume on Friday,
tee-time 7:10am, gates will open at 6:00am, all times Eastern.
