Las Vegas shooting
at the "New York New York" casino
A gunman opened fire at
the New York New York casino in Las Vegas early Friday, leaving
three wounded.
An
armed man entered the New York-New York casino in Las Vegas,
Nevada, early Friday, opening fire inside the casino, wounding
three of the people inside, before being tackled down by the
patrons and security officers of the casino. The police has
corrected an earlier report saying that four people were wounded
in the shooting, which took place a little after midnight on
July 6th.
According to police reports, the man,
who is believed to be in his early 50's, calmly entered the
crowded casino, pulled out a gun and randomly begun shooting at
the patrons within. None of the wounded sustained
life-threatening injuries, and all three of them are currently
undergoing treatment in a local hospital.
The police claims this is the first
incident of this kind, where a man obviously just snapped and
entered the first casino he saw, and start shooting.
Surveillance tapes are being analyzed by the local police, but
the casino was open for business at 6:00am, informing customers
that it's business as usual.
The New York-New York casino is owned by
MGM Mirage Inc. (NYSE:MGM). Authorities confirmed that the
gunman, although local, is not an employee or a guest at the
casino-hotel.
