Wimbledon: Roddick
and Henin out, Nadal and Federer up
Andy Roddick was two
points from victory, Justine Henin is also out of Wimbledon
tennis, but Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer are on semifinals.
The
18th-seeded Marion Bartoli took away Henin's chance for career
Grand Slam, after beating the Belgian 1-6, 7-5, 6-1 on Friday.
Bartoli will play Venus Williams at the 2007 Wimbledon final.
Williams and Bartoli are the lowest ranking players to ever
reach an Wimbledon final, Venus is 23rd and Marion 20th. Venus
Williams reached the Wimbledon final by beating Ana Ivanovic
6-2, 6-4.
Similar upset at the men's Wimbledon,
when Andy Roddick was two points away from a semi-final. Roddick
was playing Richard Gasquet at the quarter final, but lost 4-6,
4-6, 7-6 (2), 7-6 (3), 8-6 to the No.12 Frenchman.
Richard Gasquet will meet Roger Federer
at the Wibledon semi-final on Saturday. Rafael Nadal will play
against Novak Djokovic for a spot on the final.
