2007 British
Open: Garcia - Harrington Playoff
Just as we predicted about an
hour ago, the 2007 British Open winner will have to be decided
by playoff.
The
final day of the 2007 British Open put immense pressure on the
Spanish golfer, and even though he had the trophy practically
handed to him, he had to battle for it on a playoff.
Padraig Harrington was sitting atop of the leaderboard
towards the end of the Day 4 of the Open Championship, but all
was to much for Harrington and he double bogeyed on the 18th to
drop down to 7-under par and finish second at this year Open
Championship. This put Sergio Garcia on the lead with one over
Harrington, but the 27-year-old Garcia did not manage to keep
his lead and bogeyed on the 18th, as well, to finish tied for
the 1st with Harrington and take the British Open to a playoff.
Sergio Garcia played well throughout the
Championship and Padraig Harrington was great at the final day.
Playoff between the two is the best thing that could happen to
all the British Open spectators. They will play the first, 16th,
17th and 18th holes in the playoff for the win.
