The name of the Pittsburgh
Steelers has been chosen, it's "Steely McBeam".
Steelers
fans over 13 years of age are praying today that the name of
their new mascot, Steely McBeam, was chosen to appear to the
Pennsylvania's kids, and not a direct expression of the team
spirit.
The name of the Pittsburgh Steelers
mascot was submitted by Diane Roles from Valencia, PA, and it
was one of the 70,000 entries submitted. She will get VIP
tickets to the opener against the Buffalo Bills. Steely McBeam
is an addition to the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the
Steelers.
The Internet forums dedicated to the
Pittsburgh Steelers were buzzing with discussions of the new
Steely McBeam mascot. Most agree to take cheerleaders over any
mascot, any day of the week. Fans also decided that with or
without the mascot - Steelers spirit will prevail, and don't
forget to bring a towel.
