Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys win in Week 1

Week 1 of the NFL Preseason is underway, on Thursday the Detroit Lions and the Dallas Cowboys raised their self-esteem.

Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys win in Week 1 The NFL Preseason games are the best chance teams will have to "check yourself" before the real deal. In the first two exhibition games the Detroit Lions met the Cincinnati Bengals and the Dallas Cowboys welcomed the Indianapolis Colts.

The neighboring Cincinnati Bengals took an early lead at 26-17 in the fourth quarter, but the Lions took a late victory beating the Bengals 26-27. Although only two passes were thrown at Calvin Johnson, the #2 NFL draft pick caught both of them and displayed his speed and playmaking ability. Rod Marinelli will be on the sideline for a second season and the win against the Bengals gives hope to Michigan for a good NFL season ahead. "You always want to win any game you play, but this doesn't hurt. We did a lot of good things when the veterans were in there. The young guys missed some chances to finish out the game," Cincinnati coach Marvin Lewis said after the game.

The Cowboys' fans have plenty to celebrate after Dallas scored a serious victory against the Super Bowl Champions on Thursday. The Cowboys wrote 23-10 on the final scoreboard in the game against the Indianapolis Colts and no one in Texas cares that it's just the Preseason. The Cowboys were confident in their play and took an early 23-3 lead, before the Colts scored a touchdown in the closing minutes. The Colts would not sweat the exhibition lost, in 2005 they lost all five to go and win their first 13 games in the regular season. "All in all, we have things to build on," Indianapolis coach Tony Dungy said.
