Reports confirm a suicide attempt was the reason for the hospitalization of actor Owen Wilson on Sunday.

A report by Santa Monica Police Department, published by "Extra", confirms that the 911 call on Sunday, which was made from Wilson's house, was listed as an "attempted suicide." "Extra" also claims though unnamed sources close to Owen Wilson, that the actor has been depressed lately and indeed attempted a suicide on Sunday, but it was not over a failed relationship.

According to Us Weekly, cocaine and heroin was to blame for the suicide attempt by Owen Wilson. Representatives of the actor have denied he ever used any of the drugs, but the publication reports that even his friends were all too aware of his drug and depression problems. The magazine cites Courtney Love (?) and former girlfriend Kate Hudson blaming British actor Steve Coogan for Wilson's addiction. Another unnamed source close to Hudson claims that the drugs and parties were to blame for their breakup in May.

The only official statement from Owen Wilson says "I respectfully ask that the media allow me to receive care and heal in private during this difficult time."
