NFL Point Spread: Saints vs. Buccaneers, Falcons vs. Giants spreads

NFL Point Spread: Saints vs. Buccaneers, Falcons vs. Giants spreads We continue our Week 1 NFL point spread and odds preview with two games that will get plenty of action this Sunday, the New Orleans Saints vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Atlanta Flacons vs. New York Giants. When the New Orleans Saints (9-0) met with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-8) last year the Bucs won the game by three points, but this time around the odds makers at the sportsbooks are far from giving the hosting team any breaks. At this point in the NFL season, betting on the Saints is all about their ability to maintain the perfect record and the betting numbers below prove this. The Atlanta Falcons (5-4) vs. NY Giants (5-4) game is bound to be much more interesting, considering the two teams both sit at the second spot on their respective standings and the Giants even have the chance to close the season atop the NFC East standings ( the Giants share second spot with the Eagles, but just a W away from the leading Cowboys).

So we are going to start with the odds and point spread on the Saints vs. Buccaneers game, as posted by the popular sports betting website Bookmaker. At the bookie the Saints are naturally favorite to continue unbeaten after the NFL Week 11 with odds -525, while Tampa Bay will pay out on +425 odds if they are able to deliver a highly unlikely upset. The New Orleans Saints vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers point spread is -10.5 points favoring the Saints and the total listed by the sportsbook is 505 points. New Orleans wide receiver Lance Moore and cornerbacks Tracy Porter and Jabari Greer are out for the game against the Bucs, while star running back Reggie Bush, along with defensive tackle Sedrick Ellis remain questionable. At Tampa Bay only cornerback Elbert Mack is listed as questionable with the rest of the injuries upgraded to probable for the Sunday game against the Saints. If you are betting the point spread, keep in mind that New Orleans is 4-1 against the spread in its last 5 games on the road and Tampa Bay is 1-7 against the spread in its last 8 games at home.

Moving on to the next game on our spread and odds preview list, the Atlanta Falcons and their visit to the NY Giants. At Bookmaker the odds are heavily stacked against the Falcons, who are sitting on +280 to win the game, while the NY Giants will come out in front of home crowd as favorite with odds -330. The Atlanta Falcons vs. New York Giants point spread is currently at -7 points chalk the Giants and the total posted by the online bookmaker is 46 points even. Betting trends show that Atlanta is 4-2 against the spread in its last 6 games, but the Flacons have covered the point spread only twice out of their last 6 games on the road. Meanwhile the NY Giants are 1-3-1 against the spread in their last 5 games at home, but the total has gone UNDER in 5 of the NY Giants last 5 games when playing Atlanta. Keep in mind, however, that the Giants have lost all of their last 5 games when playing at home against the Falcons. Giants cornerback Aaron Ross is the only questionable player for the game against the Falcons, with quarterback Eli Manning and running back Ahmad Bradshaw both upgraded to probable for the Sunday game. In Atlanta wide receiver Brian Finneran is out for the game against the Giants and running back Michael Turner was listed as doubtful. Atlanta wide receiver Roddy White and running back Jerious Norwood remain questionable for the Falcons - Giants game on Sunday.
