New England
Patriots vs. Denver Broncos: Line and point spread
The conference championship games are upon us this weekend
and today we will begin our preview with the line and point
spread on the AFC Championship game between the New England
Patriots and the Denver Broncos. The AFC East top team this
year, the Patriots finished the regular season with 12-4 record,
while the Broncos led by Payton Manning had little problem
securing the top accolades of the ADC West with 13-3 record.
And looking at the odds, money line and
point spread on the Sunday's AFC Championship game we find that
for the first time in a long while the Pats will not be the
favorite team of the odds makers. At the online sportsbook
Bookmaker, the Denver Broncos are the clear favorite to win the
game and secure a Super Bowl berth with -250 line, while the
line on the Patriots is at +210. A slightly more credit has been
given to the Pats at another sportsbook,
Bovada Sports, where
New England is underdog at just +185 and the odds on the Broncos
to win the game are -225. One thing the sportsbooks seem to
agree on is the spread. The point spread on New England Patriots
vs. Denver Broncos game is at -5.5 points chalk the Broncos at
both bookies and the over-under on the game is at 57 points.
Worth noting here is that New England is 1-5 against the spread
in its last 6 games on the road and 4-11 against the spread in
its last 15 games when playing on the road against the Denver
Broncos. Also, the total has gone OVER in 7 of Denver's last 9
games when playing at home against the New England Patriots.
Injuries could be an issue for the Patriots
on Sunday when they travel to face the Denver Broncos. At New
England wide receivers Aaron Dobson and Kenbrell Thompkins
remain questionable for the AFC Championship game, while
linebackers Dane Fletcher and Dont'a Hightower, along with
running back Shane Vereen and wide receiver Danny Amendola were
all upgraded to probable. Patriots linebacker Steve Beauharnais
is out for the Sunday game due to illness. Meanwhile at the
Broncos, all injuries, including quarterback Payton Manning,
were upgraded to probable for the Sunday Championship game,
which is set to begin at 3:00pm EST from Sports Authority Field
at Mile High.
