Week 3 spreads:
Flacons vs. Patriots, Titans @ NY Jets, point spreads
We continue our Week 3 point spreads previews with the
betting odds on two great football games this Sunday, the
Atlanta Flacons vs. New England Patriots and the Tennessee
Titans vs. NY Jets. After reaching the playoffs last year, the
Atlanta Falcons (2-0) are once again doing just fine on the
football field and after a morale-boosting victory last week
against the Panthers, in Week 3 they will face the New England
Patriots (1-1) who made a blunder against the Jets last Sunday.
And speaking of the NY Jets (2-0), they seem to be doing just
fine without Favre and will welcome the struggling Tennessee
Titans (0-2) in football Week 3. But let's get to the current
point spreads and betting odds on the games.
Opening our preview with the point
spread and odds on the Atlanta Falcons vs. New England Patriots,
the betting numbers at the sportsbook
Bookmaker have the Pats a big
favorite to win the Week 3 game with money line -215, while the
Falcons will play at Gillette Stadium as underdog with +185 odds
on victory. The point spread on Atlanta Falcons vs. New
England Patriots at the bookie is favoring the Pats by 4
points while the total is posted as 47 points. Note that even
though the Patriots have won 5 out of their last 6 games, New
England is 3-11 against the spread in its last 14 games at home.
Meanwhile Atlanta is 4-2 straight up in its last 6 games when
playing New England. In Atlanta running back Jerious Norwood was
the only player missing Wednesday practice, but in New England
wide receiver Wes Welker was absent yesterday and a long list of
Patriots players had a limited Wednesday practice, including CB
Terrence Wheatley, wide receivers Matt Slater and Julian
Edelman, along with tight end Chris Baker and defensive end
Myron Pryor. Patriots quarterback Tom Brady meanwhile did a full
one, recovering from a right shoulder injury.
Moving forward to the Tennessee Titans
vs. NY Jets match-up, the odds and spreads on this game don't
look very promising for the Titans fans. At Bookmaker the NY
Jets are the favorite team of the game with odds -150 on yet
another victory, while the Titans hold odds +130 to finally get
a W in Week 3. The Tennessee Titians vs. NY Jets point spread
is at -3 points chalk the Jets with the total down at 37 points.
If you are going to bet the spreads in Week 3, keep in mind that
Tennessee is 2-4 against the spread in its last 6 games, but 7-2
ATS in its last 9 games on the road. The Jets, however, are
perfect 5-0 against the spread in their last 5 games when
playing the Titans. Also note that the total has gone OVER in 4
of the NY Jets last 6 games at home. Only linebacker Stanford
Keglar and tight end Bo Scaife skipped Wednesday practice for
the Titans and the Jets seem to recover nicely as well having
only cornerbacks Lito Sheppard and Donald Strickland to worry
about. The Titans and Jets will face off early on Sunday at
1:00pm EST for Week 3 football.
