O.J. Simpson
arrested in casino robbery probe
O.J. Simpson has been arrested
by the Las Vegas police in connection to an armed
robbery in a casino.
The
police in Las Vegas has arrested O.J. Simpson as part of the
probe into the armed robbery in the Palace Station Hotel and
Casino in Las Vegas, CNN cites a source close to the
investigation. The charges have not been made public yet, but
the arrest is part of the investigation of the armed robbery of
sports memorabilia from a room in the casino. O.J. Simpson was
arrested at his room in the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas.
O.J. Simpson was questioned by the Las
Vegas police earlier this week, but at that time no charges were
filed against the former NFL player. During the questioning,
Simpson claimed that the sports memorabilia belonged to him.
According to Simpson, him and a group of friends, one posing as
a potential buyer, did visit the hotel room of one of the
alleged victims Alfred Beardsley, after learning that some of
his personal items were offered for sale by Beardsley. O.J.
Simpson claimed that among the memorabilia were personal items
stolen from him, such as pictures of his family and himself as a
child and photographs taken by his ex-wife, Nicole Brown
Simpson. O.J. and his friends took the items, but no guns were
involved, claims Simpson.
On Saturday, the Las Vegas police
arrested Walter Alexander, one of the O.J. Simpson's entourage
at the time of the alleged robbery, and charged Alexander with
two counts of robbery with a deadly weapon, one count of
conspiracy to commit robbery with a deadly weapon, two counts of
assault with a deadly weapon and one count of burglary with a
deadly weapon. Two guns were seized, which the police believes
were part of the robbery.
