Texas RB James
Henry arrested, 6th Longhorns player in three months
Freshman running back for the
Texas Longhorns James Henry became the sixth member of the team
to be arrested since June, after booked on Monday.
Discipline
issues are eroding the Texas Longhorns (3-0), becoming even more
obvious after the running back James Henry was arrested on
Monday on two felony counts of obstruction and tampering with
evidence. Henry was booked into Travis County Jail with a bond
of $30,000 and was released on Tuesday. James Henry is also
accused of beating up one of the victims of a July home invasion
that allegedly involved two other players, Andre Jones and
Robert Joseph. His arrest made him the sixth player from the
college team to be booked since June. The obstruction and
tampering charges stem from the police belief that James Henry
disposed of a backpack containing items stolen in the home
invasion.
Longhorns coach Mack Brown said James Henry was suspended
indefinitely from the team, joining the like of safety Tyrell
Gatewood (drug charges) and TD Andre Jones, who is already
charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon in the
James Henry case. Robert Joseph had already left the Longhorns
before his July arrest, because of an earlier incident.
Mack Brown said in front of reporters on
Tuesday: "When someone is accused of trouble or has trouble, it
is devastating to me personally. It's really all on me. It's on
me alone. I'm responsible for making all the final decisions at
the football office at the University of Texas. It's obvious I
need to be more accountable and do a better job. I've got to go
back and look at everything I'm doing. Twenty-three years as a
head coach, I've dealt with more in six months than I have in 23
years."
The Texas Longhorns are favorite to win
the Saturday college football game against the visiting Rice
Owls (0-3). The betting site
Bookmaker has published odds on
the Longhorns -1500 ( you have to bet 1,500 to win 100) and the
Owls have the betting odds on winning the game posted at +750
(you get 750 for every 100 bet). Texas is favorite -38.5 points
against the spread and the total is set at 64.5 points at the
odds maker.
