Florida Gators Michael Guilford dies in an accident

Florida freshman defensive back Michael Guilford killed in a motorcycle accident.

Michael Guilford, red shirt freshman defensive back for the Florida Gators, has passed away early today, after a motorcycle accident. According to local reports, Michael Guilford and another Florida student Ashley Slonina were killed instantly, after their Kawasaki motorcycle crashed onto a median near campus. According to the police, neither Guilford nor Slonia wore a helmet at the time of the accident, and the Kawasaki was traveling at least 25mph over the speed limit. Toxicology reports are pending, after a report that the students were at a party nearby before getting on the road.

"We are deeply saddened to learn of the tragic passing of Michael Guilford. He was an outstanding, quality young man that was loved, respected and admired by all of us. His unselfish efforts on helping his teammates getting ready to play every week were only a glimpse of the person he was. We pray that God's blessing be with Michael's family, friends and teammates during this sad and difficult time." Florida coach Urban Meyer said. Guilford made the Florida team as a walk on and was often used on the scout team.
