Sultan Ibragimov won the fight against Evander Holyfield for the WBO heavyweight title.

Holyfield loses the fight to Ibragimov The bookmakers were once again right on the money when they predicted that Holyfield will lose the fight. Today in Russia the heavyweight champion Sultan Ibragimov won the fight against Evander Holyfield by unanimous decision. Two of the judges scored the fight as 117-111 and one 118-110. The victory against Holyfield raised Ibragimov's record to 22 wins and one draw, while this was ninth defeat for Holyfield in his 53 fights - 42 wins, 9 defeats and two draws.

Despite the loss, Holyfield showed a great form against the much younger Russian and until the last round it was unknown who will grab the victory. For the enjoyment of the 10,000+ crowd at Khodynka Arena Sultan Ibragimov was declared the winner of the fight in which he initially had to fight WBA champion Ruslan Chagaev. Final score of the Ibragimov - Holyfied fight 117-111, 117-111, 118-110 Sultan Ibragimov.
