NCAAF Thursday point spread: South Florida vs. Rutgers, Utah at TCU

The point spread and betting previews on the college football games in Week 8 South Florida vs. Rutgers and Utah vs. TCU.

NCAAF Thursday point spread: South Florida vs. Rutgers, Utah at TCU It's Monday and this means one thing - time for the point spread and betting preview of the upcoming Week 8 college football games. Believe it or not, the point spread on the college games is already taking shape and for the latest we go to our preferred betting site Bookmaker. People actively wagering on college football will take the opportunity to place a bet on the Thursday game between the University of South Florida (6-0) and Rutgers (4-2). The two Big East teams will make this game a pain to predict and we will likely see an equal amount of bets on both USF and Rutgers. Currently, the early bettors have set the point spread on South Florida vs. Rutgers game at -3 chalk USF at Bookmaker but there is plenty of time for movement.

Who's fighting here? USF have stayed the course this season with a perfect 6-0 record and in their last game the Bulls welcomed UCF for a final score of 12-64. No.2 in the AP Top 25 and in the BCS Standings this week, South Florida are working their way to the top with the 3rd ranked defense in the Big East, allowing only 284.3 yards per game and 15.7 points on average. Quarterback Matt Grothe will again be a power tool against Rutgers, passing 101 out of 171 for a total of 1121 yards in the first six games this season and ran for 100 against UCF. Main target of Grothe will be WR Taurus Johnson, who signed up for 6 packages for a total of 83 yards and two touchdowns last Saturday against UCF. So far there are no new injuries in the South Florida team to report this week, overall healthy good team looking for 7-0.

Rutgers, on the other side, clearly outscore South Florida with a No.3 BigE offense with an average of 489.7 yards each game. You won't find Rutgers in neither AP Top 25 nor BCS, but don't be quick to give up on them just yet. Last week the Scarlet Knights won 38-14 against Syracuse and the victory have given the team a boost in spirit, much needed after the two consecutive losses against Maryland and Cincinnati. Rutgers quarterback Mike Teel has 1817 passing yards under his belt this season with 12 touchdown passes and 105 completed out of 168 attempted. RB Ray Rice is rushing for 818 yards and 13 touchdowns in the last six games and WR Tiquan Underwood is 675 yards on the receiving end with 4 TDs this season.

And a little extra betting action this Thursday with the Mountain West matchup between Utah (4-3) and TCU (4-3). The point spread on the Utah vs. TCU game is favoring TCU -3.5 points at Bookmaker and it is unlikely to change through the week. Both teams are coming out on the field with similar stats - Utah scores 23.4 points a game and allows on average 19.6 points and TCU is 23 scored for 19 allowed on average. Utah is 8-4 against the spread in its last 12 games and TCU is 6-1 ATS in its last 7 games at home. The total has gone UNDER in 4 of TCU's last 5 games at home and UNDER in 4 of Utah's last 5 games on the road.
