Buccaneers sweep
RB Michael Bennett from the Chiefs
According to Kansas City Star
running back Michael Bennett is going to the Tampa Bay
Buccaneers.
The
Tampa Bay Buccaneers are trading a conditional draft pick to the
Kansas City Chiefs in exchange for the running back Michael
Bennett, according to the local paper Kansas City Star. The deal
has not been confirmed yet by either camp, but Bennett himself
confirmed the trade in an interview with the newspaper on
Monday. The NFL trading deadline is today at 4:00 pm and
speculations emerge that the Buccaneers may even give up a
second round draft pick for Bennett and a lesser pick in
exchange from the Chiefs.
The 29-year-old RB was drafted by the
Vikings from Wisconsin as 27th overall pick in the first round
of the 2001 NFL Draft. The Vikings released Michael Bennett in
2005 and was signed by the Saints as a backup to Deuce
McAllister, but after Reggie Bush joined New Orleans, Bennett
was traded to the Kansas City Chiefs for a fourth round draft
choice. In 81 career games Michael Bennett rushed for 3,426
yards and 12 touchdowns, but he has carried for only 52 yards
this season.
