NBA Commissioner David Stern
announced the 2009 All-Star game will be hosted by Phoenix.
The
2009 All-Star game will be hosted by Phoenix, commissioner David
Stern announced today. The game will be played at the US Airways
Center, home of the Phoenix Suns, and will take place on Sunday,
February 15th. The 58th edition of the All-Star game will be
televised in the United States on TNT. This will be the third
time Phoenix is hosting the All-Star game - 1975 and 1995 were
the previous times.
"Phoenix is one of the great sports
and entertainment destinations, so it is only natural that it
will once again become the basketball capital of the world. We
appreciate the leadership of Jerry Colangelo, Robert Sarver and
the Suns organization for inviting us to make their arena our
home for what promises to be an exciting and entertaining
All-Star," said NBA commissioner David Stern.
The 2008 NBA All-Star Game will be on
February 17th in New Orleans, Louisiana. It will take place at
the New Orleans Arena, home of the New Orleans Hornets.
