Lakers trade two
to Orlando Magic for Trevor Ariza
The Los Angeles Lakers have
traded Brian Cook and Maurice Evans to the Orlando Magic for
forward Trevor Ariza.
Forward
Trevor Ariza was part of a 2-1 trade by the Lakers today, the
Los Angeles team trading forward Brian Cook and swingman Maurice
Evans to the Orlando Magic in exchange for the underrated
forward Trevor Ariza. This is fourth season for Ariza, averaging
3.3 points and 2.2 rebounds in 11 games so far. Trevor Ariza was
a second round draft choice (43rd overall) of the New York
Knicks in the 2004 NBA Draft, but was traded to the Magic in
2006 as part of another 2-1 deal, in which the Knicks got Steve
Francis in exchange for Trevor Ariza and Penny Hardaway.
Traded Brian Cook was on the first year
of his 3-year contract with the Lakers worth 10.5 million and
averaged 2.3 points and 1.7 rebounds in six games this season.
Maurice Evans was on the final year of his $1.5 million contract
with the L.A. Lakers. Meanwhile Trevor Ariza was on a 2-year
$5.6 million contract with Orlando Magic.
