Thanksgiving
football: Packers vs. Lions point spread and odds
The point spread, betting odds
and preview of the Thanksgiving football game between the Green
Bay Packers and the Detroit Lions.
Three
of the NFL Week 12 games will be played on Thanksgiving this
year and the most exciting will be the NFC North match-up
between the Green Bay Packers (9-1) and the Detroit
Lions (6-4). A couple of week back, the Lions were looking
to give the Packers hell for the playoffs, but after losing 2
straight game, last one at home 16-10 against the NY Giants, and
Packers getting their fifth straight victory 17-31 against
Carolina, all it's left for Detroit is the dream for the wild
card. A "W" against Green Bay would put them back on the track
towards playoff, but the odds makers are favoring the
neighboring Wisconsin team this Thanksgiving. At the online
sportsbook
Bodog Sports, the point
spread on the Green Bay Packers vs. Detroit Lions is
currently posted at -3.5 points chalk the Packers and according
to the bookie, these numbers are about to change a bit as we
getting close to the Thanksgiving football game, maybe by
another point. Green Bay is also odds favorite at
Bookmaker with money line -190
and Detroit is underdog with betting odds +160.
The Detroit Lions were doing great a
month ago, but their last two games proved that much more work
is needed, mostly on the offensive side of the team. The defense
has been holding strong throughout the season with enough
turnovers, but the offense failed to capitalize on them. Things
got so bad, the Lions rushed for -18 yards in their 21-31 loss
to the Cardinals two weeks ago. And with the "D" working hard
all the time - exhaustion is taking its toll on the players. The
fact that the Lions will be playing their Thanksgiving game four
days after the last makes matter even worse. The Green Bay
Packers, on the other side, are pretty much guaranteed the
playoffs and consistency is not a problem for the Wisconsin
football team. The Packers are so good - the game against the
Cowboys at the end of the month is dubbed to show which of the
two teams will play the Patriots at the
2008 Super Bowl in the
end. Betting trends show that Green Bay is 5-0 against the
spread in its last 5 games on the road and Detroit is 4-1-1
against the spread in its last 6 games at home. Overall, the
Green Bay Packers will be able to cover -3.5 point spread and
then some.
