Penn State going
to the Alamo Bowl
Penn State has officially
accepted bid in the Alamo Bowl.
The
Penn State Nittany Lions (8-4) officially accepted today
(Friday) an invitation to the Alamo Bowl on December 29th. The
opponent of Penn State will be a Big 12 team, likely Texas or
Texas A&M, to be determined this Sunday. "This team has
worked hard all season and has been a great group to work with.
I'm happy for the squad that their efforts will be rewarded with
an opportunity to go to San Antonio," Penn State coach Joe
Paterno commented on the upcoming Alamo Bowl game. This year
Penn State and its opponent will match-up for a price of over $2
million at the Alamodome. It will be the second time the Nittany
Lions play in the Alamo Bowl, after the 1999 24-0 victory
against Texas A&M. Last year's Alamo Bowl winner was Texas,
beating Iowa 26-24.
