Navy coach Paul Johnson has accepted the offer of the Yellow Jackets.

Paul Johnson accepts Georgia Tech coaching job Navy football coach Paul Johnson informed the team on Friday, that he had accepted the coaching job offered to him by the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, Midshipmen spokesman confirmed today. Johnson will replace the fired Ga Tech coach Chan Gailey. According to the Navy AD, Paul Johnson will not coach Navy (8-4) in the Poinsettia Bowl game against Utah.

 After taking the coaching job at Navy six seasons ago, Paul Johnson was able to turn around the struggling Midshipmen, who had reached an all time low in the two years prior to his arrival, going 1-20 between the 00-01 seasons. In his first year with Navy, Johnson finished for a 2-10 record, but since he had lead the team to five straight bowl games and a school record six consecutive wins over rival Army. Paul Johnson hold an overall career record of 105-39 and 45-29 with Navy.
