Kyle Orton named
starting quarterback for the Chicago Bears
Yet another switch in the
quarterback job, Kyle Orton was named starter for the Bears in
the Week 15 game.
Kyle
Orton will be the starting quarterback for the Chicago Bears
(5-8) next week, when the Bears meet the Minnesota Vikings on
Monday night. Bears head coach Lovie Smith opted out for Kyle
Orton with his other choice - veteran QB Brian Griese. Regular
starter Rex Grossman is considered out for the rest of the
season with fractured ankle during preseason.
Kyle Orton started 15 games as a rookie in
2005, going 10-5 for a playoff team and will start in the
remaining three games as the top quarterback for Chicago. "I
think everybody knows that I've been frustrated and haven't
liked my role. But I tried to make the best of it, and now my
job's just to focus on the future and try to play well and let
everything work itself out. I'm going to let my play speak for
itself. I figure if I play well and win football games, it'll be
my job," Orton was quoted saying after the news of his
promotion broke. The Vikings remains betting favorite at the
online sportsbook
Bodog Sports with the point
spread on the Bears - Vikings game sitting at -10 points chalk
Minnesota.
