Player of the Year
Golfer Tiger Woods was voted
for the third straight time the PGA Player of the Year by his
peers.
Tiger
Woods was voted the PGA Player of the year by his peers for the
third straight time and ninth in his 11-year pro career. The PGA
Player of the year award is vote-based and the only other name
on the ballot was Phil Mickelson. Tiger Woods also won the PGA
of America player of the year, which is a point-based award.
After winning seven times in 2007, including the PGA
Championship, Woods also grabbed for the eighth time the Arnold
Palmer Award, which is given to the player with most earnings,
as well as his eighth Byron Nelson Trophy for leading the tour
in scoring average at 67.79. Jay Haas was voted Champions Tour
player of the year, while Nick Flanagan won the award on the
Nationwide Tour.
Tiger Woods remains the odds favorite to
win the 2007 Target World Challenge at 5/4 at the online betting
firm
Bodog Sports, followed by Vijay
Singh with 8/1, Jim Furyk at 10/1 and Padraig Harrington with
odds on winning this PGA tourney at 11/1.
