Wolverines: Rich Rodriguez fires all coaches
The new head coach of the
Michigan Wolverines, Rich Rodriguez, has fired all assistant
coaches on Thursday.
Tough
love for the University of Michigan football - the newly hired
head coach Rich Rodriguez has fired all assistant coaches
yesterday. Rodriguez is scheduled to take over the Wolverines'
reins after the Capital One Bowl on January 1st, but he isn't
just sitting and waiting. On Thursday night the new Michigan
football coach fired each of Lloyd Carr's assistants, after
meeting with them one by one. The assistant coaches had signed a
2-year contracts in March of 2007, which means the University
will continue to pay them until the end of February 2009, if
they don't find new jobs. All assistants will remain with the
Wolverines until after the Capital One Bowl game against the
Florida Gators. Florida is still favorite 11 points against the
spread for the game against Michigan at the online bookmaker
Bodog Sports.
Here is the list of all Michigan Wolverines
assistant coaches fired by Rich Rodriguez: Scot Loeffler
(quarterbacks), Andy Moeller (offensive line) Steve Stripling
(defensive line), Ron English (defensive coordinator), Mike
DeBord (offensive coordinator), Fred Jackson (wide receivers and
associate head coach), Erik Campbell (wide receivers and
assistant head coach), Vance Bedford (defensive backs) and Steve
Szabo (linebackers).
