Champs Sports
Bowl odds
and spread: Boston College vs. Michigan State
Preview with betting odds and
point spread of the Champs Sports Bowl game between Boston
College and Michigan State.
Three
college bowl games are lined up for Friday and we will start the
previews with the Champs Sports Bowl game, which will match up
the No.14 Boston College Eagles (10-3) and the
Michigan State Spartans (7-5). Winning the Champs Sports
Bowl game on Friday will be a small consolation to Boston
College, who took and held the No.2 rank for much of the season,
just to see it slip through their hands at the end. Winning the
ACC's Atlantic Division was a start towards a better bowl game
placement, but losing the conference title game to Virginia Tech
match them up with the Spartans. And Boston College, although
favorite to win the bowl game on Friday, are not the ultimate
favorite they once were. At the online bookmaker
Bodog Sports, the point
spread on the Boston College vs. Michigan State bowl game is
sitting at only -4 points with the total at 56.5 points. At
another major betting website,
Bookmaker, the odds on Virginia
Tech to win the Champs Sports Bowl game are -190 and the odds on
Michigan State are posted at +160.
The low betting numbers on the Eagles could
easily be explained with the lengthy list of injured players.
Even though the Heisman Trophy nominee quarterback Matt Ryan
will take part in the bowl game, running backs Jeff Smith and
A.J. Brooks, DT B.J. Raji, LB Brian Toal and safety Marty Bowman
are all out for the game against the Spartans. Another Boston
College linebacker Jack Geiser, CB DeJuan Tribble and safety Wes
Davis are still questionable for the Champs Sports Bowl game on
Friday. Meanwhile at Michigan State, only cornerback Chris
Rucker was listed as questionable for the game against the
Eagles. With the injuries and the fact that Michigan State
already led Boston College in offense (Spartans post 433.9 yards
for 34.1 points, compared to Eagles with 413.7 yards for 28.4
points), the Champs Sports Bowl could turn into yet another big
upset for the Eagles this year.
Betting trends on the two college football
teams indicate that Michigan State is 4-2 against the spread in
its last 6 games. And although Boston College has won 10 of the
last 13 games, the Eagles are 1-4 against the spread in their
last 5 games. The total has gone OVER in 8 of Michigan State's
last 9 games and UNDER in 5 of Boston College's last 7 games.
The Champs Sports Bowl starts on Friday at 5:00pm EST from
Citrus Bowl in Orlando, FL.
