Playoffs: San
Diego Chargers vs. Indianapolis Colts point spread and odds
The preview of the Sunday NFL
playoff game San Diego Chargers vs. Indianapolis Colts,
including the point spread and betting odds on the divisional
game.
Sunday
will bring another exciting edition of the NFL divisional
playoffs and we will start the preview with the betting odds and
point spread on the AFC matchup between the San Diego
Chargers (11-5) and the Indianapolis Colts (13-3).
Even well into the week, the odds and spread on the NFL playoff
games offer a great opportunity for those who bet on the wild
card playoff entrants. At the online sportsbook
Bodog Sports (official website),
the point spread on the San Diego Chargers vs. Indianapolis
Colts is currently sitting at -9 points chalk the Colts with
the total expected at 49.5 points. The Colts remain big
odds-favorite as well, the betting odds on the Indianapolis
Colts to win the playoff game on Sunday are posted as -425 and
the odds on the San Diego Chargers are listed at the underdog
+355. Keep in mind that live betting on the NFL playoffs will be
offered during the games at Bodog, great way to correct a
mistake this weekend.
The big point spread and odds on this
playoff game come as a surprise to many, especially when the
Chargers and the Colts have already met this season, on November
11th, and San Diego won the game, beating Indianapolis 23-21 on
the road. Both teams will enter healthy the AFC playoffs, the
Chargers could play without tight end Antonio Gates, who missed
Wednesday practice with toe injury and the Colts may play
without cornerback T.J. Rushing, who also missed the Wednesday
team practice, due to undisclosed illness. Other than the two
players mentioned, no other injuries have been reported so far.
The San Diego Chargers still have problems
with their overall offense and defense stats, allowing 320.3
yards (14th in NFL) and going for only 315.3 yards per game,
which ranks them at the undesirable 20th spot in the league. But
where it counts, namely the point scored and allowed, the
Chargers are a worthy adversary of the Colts. San Diego allows
only 17.8 points per game and scores on average 25.8 points per
game, which ranks them 5th in the league in both. Still, they
will have to meet the absolute AFC stats leader. The
Indianapolis Colts post 28.1 points per game (1st in the AFC and
3rd overall) and allow only 16.4 points per game - the best
defensive team in the NFL in points allowed, beating the Pats
defense heads on. With no injuries and well rested, the Colts
are the bettors favorite to win, but covering the -9 point
spread remains questionable.
Looking at the betting trends before the
playoffs, the San Diego Chargers are perfect 5-0 against the
spread in their last 5 games and Indianapolis is 7-3 against the
spread in its last 10 games at home. The Chargers also beat the
Colts in covering the spread head-to-head, San Diego is 10-3
against the spread in its last 13 games when playing
Indianapolis. And finally for those who bet the total, the total
has gone OVER in 6 of Indianapolis's last 9 games when playing
San Diego. The Chargers - Colts game starts at 1:00pm EST on
Sunday, January 13th and will be broadcasted live on CBS.
