John Loughton
wins Big Brother: Celebrity Hijack
The 20-year-old Edinburgh
politician John Loughton won the UK Big Brother: Celebrity
Hijack finale.
Last
night's Big Brother celebrity hijack finale was won by John
Loughton, collecting 54% of the votes and beating circus
performer Emilia Arata. John Loughton, 20, chairs the Scottish
Youth Parliament in Edinburgh and is studying for a degree in
politics and sociology and will go home £50,000 richer, the
prize for winning the Big Brother Celebrity Hijack on E4. But
the winner and finale of this year's Celebrity Big Brother was
only seen by a little over 640,000 people, totalling the combined
viewer audience at 3.4 million, nothing compared to last year's
Celebrity Big Brother, which brought in 7.1 million viewers on
Channel 4 alone.
This year 12 housemates were selected for
their intelligence and talent while celebrities took it in turns
to take over the role of Big Brother, which turned out to be a
bigger disaster for the producers than the last year's
housemates' escapades. With the controversy of the Big Brother
tuning down, so did the viewers and some British bookmakers are
already posting odds on the show to get axed, offering 5/1 on
cancelling the celebrity version of Big Brother. And people are
taking the bet.
