2008 Grammys
results: Amy Winehouse and Kanye West big winners
As expected, Kanye West and
Amy Winhouse were the biggest winners at the last night's Grammy
Awards.
Not
many surprises last night at the 2008 Grammy Awards, just as
expected, British singer Amy Winehouse and rapper Kanye West
took the most trophies home. Everything went pretty much
according to the odds posted at the online sportsbook
Bodog Sports, except the winner
of the album of the year award- jazzman Herbie Hancock. Even to
his own surprise, Hancock took the album of the year Grammy away
from the favorite Amy Winehouse and Kanye West - Herbie
Hancock's odd to win the Grammy were 6/1, compared to West with
1/4 and Winehouse with 13/4.
Amy Winehouse, who joined the Grammy
Awards via satellite, after her visa was not approved in time to
travel to the U.S., won a total of five Grammys: Best New
Artist, Best Pop Vocal Album for "Back to Black", and Record of
the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Pop Vocal Performance, all
for ''Rehab''. Kanye West won four of his eight Grammy
nominations: Best Rap Solo Performance for ''Stronger'', Best
Rap Performance by a Duo or Group ''Southside,'' with Common,
Best Rap Song for ''Good Life'', and Best Rap Album for
"Graduation.
Other Grammy winners: Carrie Underwood
won two awards for ''Before He Cheats'', Justin Timberlake won
two Grammys for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for ''What Goes
Around...Comes Around'' and Best Dance Recording for ''LoveStoned/I
Think She Knows'', Rihanna and Jay-Z won the Best Rap/Sung
Collaboration for ''Umbrella'' and many more.
