Amy Winehouse
denied visa to the U.S.
British singer Amy Winehouse's
request for a visa has been denied by the U.S. Embassy.
Amy Winehouse will miss the Grammys, after all, following the
rejection of her visa petition. The U.S. Embassy in London
declined to comment on the reason why they denied visa to the
British singer, but her well-documented bad behavior is likely
the answer. Her publicity firm issued the following statement,
also omitting the reason for the visa denial: "Amy has been
progressing well since entering a rehabilitation clinic two
weeks ago and although disappointed with the decision has
accepted the ruling and will be concentrating on her recovery."
Amy Winehouse stands nominated for 5
Grammy awards this year, second only to hip-hop artist Kanye
West. Although Winehouse will not be able to travel to the U.S.
for the Grammys, the organizers are preparing a live feed from
London in order to give her a chance to perform on Sunday. At
this time, however, is still unknown if Amy Winehouse will
accept the live-feed offer.
The online sportsbook
Bodog Sports has posted odds on
the Grammy Awards and Winehouse is listed as the favorite for
two of the five nomination. She holds odds 5/6 to win the 50th
Annual Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, as
well as best odds to win the 50th Annual Grammy Award for Best
New Artist at 1/3. Visit the bookmaker to see the full list of
the Amy Winehouse Grammy odds.
