Boston Celtics
beat the Detroit Pistons to secure NBA playoffs
The
Boston Celtics (47-12) propelled past the Detroit Pistons
(44-17) last night for a final 90-78 and clinched the playoff
berth. Kevin Garnett had a season-high 31 points and aided the
Celtics in becoming the first NBA team to clinch a postseason
berth. The last night's victory gave Boston 2-1 in the season
series against Detroit, a team which the Celtics will likely
meet in the playoffs once more. For the Boston Celtics Chauncey
Billups scored 23 points, Rajon Rondo had 16 points, Paul Pierce
scored 15 points and Kendrick Perkins paired his 10 points with
a career-high 20 rebounds on Wednesday night. Rasheed Wallace
scored 23 points for Detroit, Richard Hamilton scored 15 points
and Tayshaun Prince had seven with 10 rebounds.
The last night's victory over the
Pistons only affirmed the NBA Finals favorite status the Boston
Celtics have enjoyed for quite a while. At the online sportsbook
BodogLife the Celtics are now
5/2 to win the Finals, sharing the same odds with only the
revitalized Los Angeles Lakers, while the Pistons odds to win
the NBA Finals are now down to 13/2, surpassed by the San
Antonio Spurs with odds 11/2. In the Eastern Conference betting
sheet, Boston is naturally on top with odds 11/10, followed by
Detroit with odds 9/4 and the Cleveland Cavaliers with odds on
winning the Eastern Conference sitting at 5/1. Miami Heat
remains the ultimate underdog with the whopping odds 500/1.
