Atlanta tornado
postpones SEC Tournament Georgia-Kentucky game
The
possible tornado which ripped through downtown Atlanta on Friday
night, causing damage to the Georgia Dome, led to cancellation
of the SEC Tournament quarterfinal game between Kentucky and
Georgia. The severe weather in Atlanta delayed Mississippi
State's 69-67 overtime win over Alabama for more than an hour
and officials had to postpone the later SEC matchup between
Kentucky and Georgia until Saturday. According to the Atlanta
Journal Constitution, the SEC will move the tournament to
Georgia Tech's Alexander Memorial Coliseum. There is an
unprecedented scenario of playing three games today - The
Georgia - Kentucky winner might have to return later in the day
for a semifinal game against Mississippi State. They will meet
at noon EDT, with the winner facing Mississippi State about nine
hours later. The other semifinal between No. 4 Tennessee and
Arkansas will be played at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
The Atlanta tornado damage to the Dome
created mess on the betting sheets as well. Currently at the
online sportsbook
BodogLife, Kentucky remains favorite to beat
Georgia in the SEC Tournament quarterfinal game with odds of
-200, while Georgia is underdog at +170, but the SEC semifinal
game between Mississippi State and the winner of the
Georgia-Kentucky game is likely to get odds just shortly before
the game. The other SEC Tournament semifinal game Tennessee vs.
Arkansas sees Tennessee -6 point favorite against the spread.
