Masters: Trevor
Immelman holds the lead, Tiger Woods six behind
As
we enter the final round of the 2008 U.S. Masters Tournament,
Trevor Immelman is still atop of the leaderboard at -11, while
favorite Tiger Woods is sitting at the 5th spot with just five
under par. Immelman began the round 3 on Saturday with total
score of eight under par and added four birdies after a bogey at
the 4th hole to extend his lead to eleven under par for the
final round of the US Masters golf tournament on Sunday. The
South African golfer is now sitting atop of the leaderboard with
a comfortable score, followed by Brandt Snedeker with -9 and
Steve Flesch with -8. But Trevor Immelman is way ahead of
once-favorite to win the US Masters, Tiger Woods, who did a
perfect round on Saturday with four birdies, but his score of 5
under par would hardly help him catch up to the four golfers
ahead.
The online bookmaker
BodogSports, however, still
believes that Tiger Woods has a pretty good shot at winning the
Masters - the bookie revised its odds on Tiger Woods first to
7/2 on winning the golf tournament and then upgraded Woods to
10/3, making him the second most likely golfer to win the
Masters. Trevor Immelman is naturally the favorite now, listed
with the odds 5/4 to win the 2008 U.S. Masters Tournament and
Brandt Snedeker would pay out on 4/1 odds if he wins on Sunday.
What can prompt the odds maker's decision - Sunday's forecast
calls for a high of 63 degrees and winds gusting up to 25 mph -
a big challenge for all golfers and the strong wind would
definitely impact everyone's game.
Here are the top six on the US Masters
leaderboard after the third round:
1 - Trevor Immelman -11 (-205);
2 - Brandt Snedeker -9 (-207);
3 - Steve Flesch -8 (-208)
4 - Paul Casey -7 (-209);
5 - Tiger Woods -5 (-211);
6 - Stewart Cink -4 (-212);
The final round of the 2008 U.S. Masters
Tournament will start on Sunday with TV coverage beginning at
2:30pm ET on CBS.
