Star Jones files for divorce from banker Al Reynolds

TV personality Star Jones has filed for a divorce from banker Al Reynolds, it was reported today. Star Jones filed the divorce papers March 26th in New York Supreme Court in Manhattan, but the records remain sealed. Insiders however claim that it was Star Jones who is seeking divorce from Al Reynolds, although the exact reason for the end of the marriage remains unknown. Later Jones herself confirmed she was the one initiating the divorce proceedings, releasing the following statement to "Entertainment Tonight": "Several years ago I made an error in judgment by inviting the media into the most intimate area of my life. A month ago I filed for divorce. The dissolution of a marriage is a difficult time in anyone's life that requires privacy with one's thoughts. I have committed myself to handling this situation with dignity and grace and look forward to emerging from this period as a stronger and wiser woman." Neither Star Jones nor Al Reynolds have opted to comment further on the divorce.

Star Jones and Al Reynolds got married in 2004 in a lavish, but "cheap" wedding in which supplies and services were donated by corporate "sponsors" in return for publicity, which led tabloid newspapers to start referring to her as "Bridezilla." She was criticized for a long time after, that while co-hosting "The View" Jones endlessly discussed the wedding, while plugging its sponsors. The negative reaction to the Star Jones' wedding was the reason Barbara Walters cited for not renewing her contract in 2006.
