Roger Clemens and
Mindy McCready long-term relationship exposed
All
hell broke lose for Rogers Clemens, after his long-time
relationship with country singer Mindy McCready was exposed by
the New York Daily News. According to the story, Roger Clemens
started a relationship with Mindy McCready when she was
15-year-old and the pitcher was a Boston Red Sox ace. Clemens
was 28 and a married father of two when he first met McCready,
the paper reported. The newspaper said Clemens sent cash to
McCready to help her with legal issues and reached out to her
when she was in jail last year in Tennessee. McCready was
sentenced last September for violating probation from a 2004
drug arrest and was released from jail last December. Mindy
McCready is attempting a career comeback following a string of
legal and personal woes. No comments have come on the scandal
from her side at this time.
"He [Rogers Clemens] flatly denies
having had any kind of an inappropriate relationship with her.
He's considered her a close family friend. ... He has never had
a sexual relationship with her," Clemens' lawyer, Rusty
Hardin, told the New York Daily News, confirming the long-term
relationship, but denying any sexual content implied by the
paper.
This scandal could undermine the
reputation of the pitcher, who is currently suing former
personal trainer Brian McNamee. McNamee contends Clemens used
performance-enhancing substances during his major league career,
which led to one of the biggest steroid scandals in baseball.
