Mike D'Antoni and
Avery Johnson next NBA coaches to get fired
With
the NBA Playoffs in full swing, the odds makers are coming up
with more and more things people can wager on, not just on the
game and the players, but now on the coaches, as well. Isaiah
Thomas was fired, followed by Sam Vincent, and most recently Pat
Riley has left his post as Miami's head coach. The online
bookmaker
BetUS (new window) has taken
advantage of the situation and posted odds on which NBA coach
will be fired next and (if the bookies are to be trusted) the
situation looks grim for Phoenix coach Mike D'Antoni, who is the
favorite to be fired next with odds 2/1.
With furor over playoff
and regular season mistakes reaching an all-time high in places
like Phoenix and Dallas and elsewhere, fans are wondering who's
(and in some cases calling for) head will roll next. But Dallas
own Avery Johnson is right behind him with odds to be the next
NBA coach fired at 3/1. So far the most secure spot on the bench
belongs to Greg Popovich of San Antonio, who is sitting on the
long 50/1 odds to get axed next.
