Big Brown wins the
Kentucky Derby - Triple Crown questions arise
Following
Big Brown's huge win of the 2008 Kentucky Derby, a whole new set
of questions arise. Yes, he is the superstar in the racing
industry, considering his perfect 4-4 record, but how long will
be able to keep the pace? Will Big Brown become the Triple Crown
Winner in US Thoroughbred Racing in 2008 or will he stumble? Oh,
he is fast, if you've seen the 134th Kentucky Derby you know he
is the fastest there is, but can he hang on through the upcoming
two legs of the Triple Crown? The odds makers at the online
sportsbook
BodogSports say "No", but they
say it cautiously - Big Brown was listed today with odds to win
the 2008 Triple Crown at +125 and if he loses any of the races
the bookie will pay out on -165. Considering that since 1875
only 11 horses have won the elusive Triple Crown, while 42 have
won two of the three races, the odds currently given to Big
Brown for the Triple Crown are quite favorable - he could be the
next to win the Triple Crown since Affirmed did it in 1978.
Naturally, Big Brown is favored to win
the 133rd Preakness Stakes, the shortest track of the Triple
Crown, with odds -275 at
BodogSports and if he loses the
Preakness the payout will be +200. But the Belmont Stakes is the
one to watch out for Big Brown, although he pays out on -120
odds either way. Looking at the Triple Crown odds on Big Brown,
yes, he may very well be the next Triple Crown winner, but get
you betting on before these odds change.
