American Idol Final 4: David Cook is now the favorite

American Idol Final 4: David Cook is now the favorite American Idol is finally down to the Final Four and the excitement is building up - two weeks left until we find out who won the Idol this season. Last night was the performance part of the show with each of the four contestants singing two songs from the Rock &Roll Hall of Fame top 500. And today there was a little shift in the odds - David Cook is now the favorite contestant to win the American Idol with the odds makers at BodogSport at 2/3, while the once-favorite David Archuleta slid down to second with odds 3/2 to win the Idol. Syesha Mercado is sitting on 15/1 odds and Jason Castro will be the most likely American Idol contestant to get voted off tonight, listed with underdog odds 40/1 to win the Idol.

Last night David Archuleta sang "Stand by Me" by Ben E. King and "Love me Tender" by Elvis, and both songs delivering high regards from the judges, including Simon, who said that Archuleta crushed the competition with Love me Tender. Still, David Archuleta is not the favorite among the odds makers anymore. David Cook went last night with "Hungry Like a Wolf" by Duran Duran and "Baba O’Riley" by The Who, and although the judges were a little less complimentary, all of them approved. Syesha Mercado sang “"Proud Mary" by Tina Turner and "A Change is Gonna Come" by Sam Cooke, and it's clear Mercado will stick around for the American Idol top three battle. And finally Jason Castro did "Shot the Sheriff" Bob Marley version and "Mr. Tambourine Man" by Bob Dylan, and failed to impress the American Idol panel one bit. The American Idol elimination is tonight - watch out for any surprises, but it appears to be Jason Castro who's going home tonight.
