DMX arrested on
drug and dogfighting charges
Rapper
DMX was arrested for a second time this week, this time early
Friday on drug and dogfighting charges. A SWAT team raided his
home in Phoenix in the wee hours Friday, after DMX real name is
Earl Simmons) was indicted on four counts of felony drug
possession and seven counts misdemeanor animal cruelty charges.
The indictment stems from an August investigation, when
authorities discovered 12 malnourished pit bulls and the remains
of three others on the rapper's property, as well as some
marijuana. According to reports, DMX initially tried to
barricade himself in his bedroom as a SWAT team entered but then
came out and was taking into custody without further
complications. Police says several weapons and drugs were also
found during the raid early Friday, as well as seven pit bull
puppies. Some reports claim that local authorities were also
delivering a search warrant Friday at the Mayo Clinic in
relation to a possible fraud scheme the rapper has allegedly
been involved in, but no further details on this case are
available.
The Friday morning raid is the second
time DMX gets arrested this week. On Tuesday he was booked on
numerous motor vehicle charges stemming from a January incident
during which cameras caught him driving 114 mph on the Arizona
highway. The rapper was charged with racing on a highway,
reckless driving, two counts of endangerment and three counts of
criminal speed and driving on a suspended license.
