2008 Eurovision
results: The final winner is Russia
The
results of the final of the 2008 Eurovision song contest are out
and the winner is Russia. Favourite with the odds makers at
Bet 365 all the way from the
very beginning of the song contest, Russia, represented on the
2008 Eurovision by Dima Bilan, had no trouble beating Ukraine
and Greece in the final. Russia won 272 points from viewers from
43 countries, who picked the winner by phone calls and text
messages. Ukraine, represented by Ani Lorak, came second in the
2008 Eurovision results with 230 points and Greece's Kalomira
was third with 218 points from the voters. At the British
bookmaker Russia opened the odds at 3/1 favourite before the
start of the semi-finals and kept the favourite spot all the way
through. Serbia was listed as second with odds 5/1, but
unfortunately finished in sixth place. Ukraine was 11/2 to win
the 2008 Eurovision song contest and Greece was at 13/2. The
Eurovision winner Russia will host the next year's song contest
unless another change of the rules is implemented beforehand.
