Cristiano Ronaldo
wants to play for Real Madrid
Manchester
United star Cristiano Ronaldo wants to play for Real Madrid, he
told the club and media it was reported today. The Portugal
winger expressed his desire to compete with Real Madrid during
an interview with Brazilian website Terra. "I would like to
play for Real Madrid but only if it is true they are ready to
pay what Manchester United ask of them. However, it does not
depend on me," Ronaldo was quoted by the website, "From
today I'm not going to talk about this topic with anyone at all.
I'll only talk about this again after the European
Championships. Don't ask me any questions because I won't
answer," the football player added. An interesting twist to
the Manchester United - Real Madrid saga, after the Red Devils
already said the top winger will stay with the club in the
upcoming season. Manchester United also threatened to report the
Spanish club to FIFA for making their pursuit of Ronaldo public.
"He [Cristiano Ronaldo] would be an
important signing for Madrid because this is a club which signs
the best players in the world, and that's what Cristiano is.
Cristiano could bring a lot of things to this club. He's young,
he has everything and a long sporting career ahead of him. For
Madrid he would be a great signing," Real Madrid striker
Ruud van Nistelrooy was quoted by the Spanish newspaper Marca,
just a day after club president Ramon Calderon conceded the
signing of the Manchester United star would be impossible.
