Euro 2008:
Switzerland v Turkey odds and match preview
The
second Euro 2008 match on Wednesday is the second game in Group
A - Switzerland v Turkey. Both teams began their European
football with a loss and one of them will have the chance to get
on its feet and keep the chance for quarterfinals alive. The
great thing about underdog matches like this one - it's the
punters dream come true, thanks to the high odds on either team.
When we visited the U.K.-licensed online bookmaker
Bet 365 we were quite surprised
to learn that the Swiss are the favorite team to win the match
on Wednesday night. At the British bookie Switzerland was
sitting on odds 2.20, while Turkey was underdog at 3.25 with
3.40 for a draw.
Switzerland will come out on the field
without captain Alex Frei, who suffered a knee ligament injury.
Rumour has it Frei will be replaced by midfielder Hakan Yakin,
but nothing has been confirmed yet. Marco Streller also suffered
a minor injury, but according to the latest reports he would be
fit for the second game in Group A. But the situation in the
Turkish squad isn't any better - captain Emre Belozoglu (photo)
is out for the game against the Swiss, after tearing a hamstring
muscle and will likely miss the final Group A game against the
Czech, as well. Turkey's Gokhan Zan and Servet Cetin will likely
miss the game, after both centre-backs suffered knee injuries.
The Euro 2008 match Switzerland v Turkey will kick-off at 20:45
local time from St Jakob-Park, Basel. Live betting is available
at
Bet 365 online.
