Oakland Raiders wide receiver Javon Walker had to be taken
to a local hospital, after the player was beaten and robbed off
the Las Vegas Strip on Monday. According to the latest reports,
Javon Walker is at the Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center in
the gambling Mecca, his condition diagnosed as "fair" and could
be released as soon as today. According to the police report,
the Raiders wide receiver was found unconscious with significant
injuries on a street just off the Las Vegas Strip. He has been
beaten badly and a large amount of cash, as well as jewelry, has
been stolen, after a long night of partying. The police are
tracing back the places Walker visited through the night in
hopes of finding a connection to the attackers.
Javon Walker, 29, was released by the
Broncos in February and signed a six-year deal with the Oakland
Raiders, worth $55 million. Walker was a first-round draft pick
by the Green Bay Packers in 2001 and had a breakout season in
2004 with 89 catches for 1,382 yards and 12 touchdowns. Walker
injured his right knee for the second time in his career last
season and was limited to eight games and 26 catches in 2007.
