Heather Locklear
checks into psychological treatment facility
Actress
Heather Locklear has checked into a psychological treatment
facility in Arizona, according to a statement released by her
publicist. The 46-year-old star has taken her battle with
depression and anxiety into her own hands and has admitted
herself to an unknown facility in Arizona. "Heather has been
dealing with anxiety and depression. She requested an in-depth
evaluation of her medication and entered into a medical facility
for proper diagnosis and treatment. This is a confidential
medical matter and no further statement will be released,"
read the official statement.
According to gossip magazines, the move
was expected sooner or later. People magazine claims that
Heather Locklear began taking medication right after her divorce
from Richie Sambora in February 2006. And in March, a man
claiming to be Locklear's doctor called 911 and asked for
assistance, fearing Locklear was feeling suicidal. Her publicist
downplayed the incident at the time, claiming the actress was
never in need of medical assistance. "[I] spoke with Heather
and she is fine. She never requested medical assistance and did
not place a 911 call. Nor did anyone from her house call 911 or
place a call requesting medical assistance," the rep was
quoted. That Heather Locklear consulted a new doctor, who
suggested she re-evaluate her condition and medication, is
another unconfirmed claim made by People.
