Expansion at Harrah's Cherokee Casino to continue

The expansion of the North Carolina's Harrah's Cherokee Casino will continue, according to casino officials. Despite the current stale condition of the gambling market, the only casino in North Carolina will go ahead with a $650 million expansion to double its gambling floor space by 2012. Vice president of marketing Leeann Bridges-McHattie told the Asheville Citizen-Times that Harrah's Cherokee has had fewer customers and flat revenues this year, but the gambling company has no plans to reduce work hours. The Eastern Band of Cherokees is the owner of the casino, but pays Harrah's Entertainment to operate the gambling facility.
