Padraig Harrington, the winner f last year's Open. completed a 69 Round 4 at the British Open today, more than enough to secure the victory with 3 over par total 283. Ian Polter seemed to be the perfect contender to the British Open winner, but mistakes early in the round robbed 32-year-old Poulter. Padraig Harrington, however, wasted no strokes and the Irishman became the winner of the 2008 British Open, his second in a row.

At the online sportsbook BodogSports, Padraig Harrington was listed with odds 3/1 to win the Open, before the start of the final round, but 20/1 before the start of the British Open, delivering a great payout to the wise bettors this year. Greg Norman, who was the 9/4 favorite earlier today, failed to capitalize on the lead and slipped back with a 77 to end joint third on nine over with Swede Henrik Stenson.
