2008 British Open winner is Padraig Harrington, beating Ian
Poulter to the top of the leaderboard results. Padraig
Harrington, the winner f last year's Open. completed a 69 Round
4 at the British Open today, more than enough to secure the
victory with 3 over par total 283. Ian Polter seemed to be the
perfect contender to the British Open winner, but mistakes early
in the round robbed 32-year-old Poulter. Padraig Harrington,
however, wasted no strokes and the Irishman became the winner of
the 2008 British Open, his second in a row.

BodogSports, Padraig Harrington
was listed with odds 3/1 to win the Open, before the start of
the final round, but 20/1 before the start of the British Open,
delivering a great payout to the wise bettors this year. He will
also take the biggest share of the 2008 British Open purse,
which was valued at £4,200,000 or about $8,635,000. Greg Norman,
who was the 9/4 favorite earlier today, failed to capitalize on
the lead and slipped back with a 77 to end joint third on nine
over with Swede Henrik Stenson.
